I have yet to meet a stone that isn't human. I see the human figure in every raw stone. It is my job as the artist to release that form. As Michelangelo said, "I saw the angel in the stone and carved until I set her free."

All my pieces are hand-carved; I do not use power tools. Hence, it takes me many, many months to sculpt a single piece. This "slowness" of the process fascinates me, and gives me better balance for handling the "speed of the world at large. I think we all need things in our lives that resist our speed; things that just take a very long time to complete.
